The Deen Squad, a music group that raps about Islamic faith and spirituality, wrote a Halal cover for the song Panda by Desiigner.
The lyrics go like this:
Verse 1 (2 times)
Jannah
Listen, you got broads in Atlanta
I got many wives in Jannah
Did it all for the Ajer
Bismillah fix my intentions
72 wifeys, that’s why I be headed to Jannah
All I just wanted was Jannah
So I’m sayin Buh Jahhanam
72 chillin, Hoor al Ayn Women
Halal money, get it
We go to Saudi, spend it
And this goes to all of my akhis
To the sisters the realest Hijabis
Falasteenis and straight Pakistanis
All of my Arabs and Killa Afghanis
Verse 2
I got broads up in Jannah
I’m praying Allah gives me answers
72 in the after
Allah is the best of the planners
Feeling like Adam, my wifey my only companion
I did it all for the Ajer (2x)
All of the deeds are granted
All of the seeds are planted
Ain’t no more weeds in the garden
All of the hearts have been softened
Beautiful wives in Jannah
I pray that we make it to Jannah
Family you should remember
To follow the holy commandments
You gotta say the Shahadah
You gotta pray to the master
You gotta fast for the matter
You gotta be giving Zakat
You gotta journey to Mecca
You gotta be doing your Hajj (2x)
You gotta try doing Hajj
The Ummah be calling me hero
Trump is the modern day Pharoah
You want my sin number?
Well they got a whole bunch of zeros
I smile to the world brother
We brought a new style to the world brother
Halal hip hop is the way to go
Heaven gon play it on the radio
Nouman Ali Khan:
Does Quran mention beautiful spouses in paradise? Yes he does, there’s no hiding from it. In Jannah, the drinks that we were forbidden (from) he offers, the joys we denied ourselves Allah offers and says “look how you held yourself back… here you go”
Summary
The rap cover is the classic message in Islam: if you properly maintain faith and morality in this world, you get rewarded in the eternal afterlife. Certain vices like alchohol and promiscuity outside of marriage are forbidden in this life and if you maintain commitment to avoiding these vices, you will find it in heaven.
Thoughts
It is important of making rap more accessible to young Muslims in a society where commercial rap discusses things that are conflicting with Islamic values.
However, this song replaces the women that surround rap artists in commercial music videos with multiple wives; encourages commitment to faith to attain this success in heaven, and bam: you have Halal hip hop.
How is this any different of commercial rap lyrics glorifying the idea of being surrounded by women? The lyrics responds to the broads in Atlanta mentioned in the original song by saying “I got many wives in Jannah.” This cover glorifies heaven in many ways, but the characteristic of heaven they look forward to the most is the multiple wives of heaven.
As my friend said, “So they are basically rapping about Allah giving them women/money if they follow the commandments of Islam.” If they pay Allah with good faith and commitment to obeying him in this life, and Allah rewards them with women, how is that different from a pimp? You pay pimps for access to their sex workers don’t you?
And why don’t the Muslims of today’s world and western societies realize how ridiculous it is for God to promise sexual access to massive amount of women in the afterlife? Muslim feminists should really challenge this notion.
As Bill Maher once said, “Promiscuity in the afterlife is the lowest thing I have ever heard in my life.”
In verse 2, the artist says “I got broads up in Jannah” then a few lines later says “Feeling like Adam, my wifey my only companion.” How is this not a contradiction?
I asked this before, and I will ask it again: What do women/wives get in paradise?
The comments in the video (thus far) don’t mention these observations, but they debate about whether rapping/music is even allowed within Islam. They sure have their priorities straight.

Well, Paradise as described by al-Ghazali’s in his “The Revival of the Religious Sciences” does seem to be pinnacle of promiscuity:
“A man asked the Prophet: O Prophet of God, will the inmates of Paradise have sexual intercourse? He said: Anybody among them will be given sexual strength of seven persons among you. The Prophet said: An inmate of Paradise will have five hundred Hurs, four thousand unmarried women and eight thousand widowed women. Each of them will keep embracing him for the duration of his whole worldly life time. He also said: There will be markets in Paradise in which there will be no buy and sale, but there will be men and women. If any man will wish to have sexual intercourse with a woman, he will do at once. The Hurs will sing in Paradise on divine purity and praise-we are most beautiful Hurs and we are for the honoured husbands.”

Wow, just wow. So the males get to marry four over here at one time plus all those concubines, and then they get 12,500 extra women in paradise.
And then what about us huh?

You only get one husband. Because thats how it logically works as a polygamous marriage.
